HOW WE HELP
How we help your family...
GOAL SETTING AND EVALUATION
We help you effectively plan for the student’s study year by providing
tools for goal setting and evaluation. As a part of your student’s permanent
record, you complete quarterly progress reports (provided by HCS) which provide a record of goals
for your child as well as an evaluation of the actual progress of your
student in their various courses.
RECORDS
We help you by keeping a
permanent record of student achievement. Course grades and achievement test
scores are among the information stored as a permanent reference for you. When
the student is transferring from another school, HCS will request the permanent records
file from
the previous school. (HCS does not make student records available to
anyone other than the student's custodial parent.)
GRADING
We help you facilitate record
keeping with a standardized method of reporting grades, while allowing you to
retain control of the actual determination of your student’s deserved grade.
ACHIEVEMENT TESTING
We help you develop a record of educational progress by administering the
Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition to all students grades 3 through 12 in
the spring of each year.
How we help high schoolers...
ACADEMIC COUNSELING
We help you keep on
track for a diploma. Each year, the administrator meets with each high school
student and their parents to assure that the student’s course load will meet
the academic goals set by the family. There is no additional charge for this
service.
COLLEGE ENTRANCE
We help you
by providing applications for the A.C.T. and S.A.T. college entrance tests
through the high school office. These tests are administered at locations
throughout the middle Tennessee area.
TRANSCRIPTS
We help you by providing a
smooth application process to the college of your choice. Transcripts are
developed which accurately reflect the actual education received by your high
schooler. Individual attention is given to certification of your student’s
course load. The charges for course certification and transcript copies
are minimal and noted in the HCS Handbook.
GROUP CLASSES
Junior and Senior High courses are offered as determined by student interest and
diploma requirement.
