PARENT ORIENTATION
The Parent Orientation Meetings are an opportunity to meet other parents as well as have questions answered and hear Rev. Jones expound on a variety of subjects.
First-time parents as well as those enrolled several years enjoy the evening and learn something new. There will be drawings for several gifts.
It's educational and it's fun!
The new 2009-10 HCS Handbook and reporting materials will be available for parents. Reporting procedures will be explained.
Due to the nature of the meetings, it is suggested that other arrangements be made for younger children. Older children are welcome. Parents need attend only one of the meetings.
Our two Parent Orientation Meetings will be:
Tuesday, 18 August, 7:00pm
at New Hope Community Church
(605 Wilson Pike, Brentwood)
&
Saturday, 19 September, 9:30am
at HCS office in Lobelville
(116 S. Main St./ Hwy 13)
The orientation will begin promptly and last no more than two hours. If you need to renew enrollment, it can be done prior to the meetings.
SALES TAX HOLIDAY
Tennessee’s fourth annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for 7-9 August. The “holiday” provides three full days of tax-free shopping on clothing, school and art supplies and computer purchases.
During the designated three-day weekend, consumers will not pay state or local sales tax on select clothing with a price of $100 or less per item, school and art supplies with a price of $100 or less per item, and computers with a price of $1,500 or less, a savings of nearly 10 percent on exempt items.
Examples of tax-exempt items include:
• Clothing: Shirts, dresses, pants, coats, gloves and mittens, hats and caps, hosiery, neckties, belts, sneakers, shoes, uniforms whether athletic or non-athletic and scarves
• School Supplies: Binders, book bags, calculators, tape, chalk, crayons, erasers, folders, glue, pens, pencils, lunch boxes, notebooks, paper, rulers and scissors
• Art Supplies: Clay and glazes; acrylic, tempera and oil paints; paintbrushes for artwork; sketch and drawing pads; and watercolors
• Computers: Central processing unit (CPU), along with various other components including monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables to connect components and preloaded software (Note: While the CPU may be purchased separately, other items must be part of a bundled computer package in order to be eligible.)

When my children were born, the decision was made to provide them with the best Christian education possible. State-tax/public/statist schools were never an option for our family. The increasing corruption and anti-Christian environment in those schools made the choice easy.
At first, Christian day-schools were used, then we became one of the hand-full of families in Tennessee to teach our daughter at home. Things have not changed. The situation in in statist schools is worse today than it was those thirty-odd years ago.
Over the years, I have learned more and more about the “why” of the state-tax schools’ problem from a variety of sources and a great number of books and magazine articles. John Taylor Gatto has now done us all the favour of writing a succinct and thorough analysis of the problems of state sponsored education... (to continue click here)
