DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS
DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from Heritage Covenant High School incorporates the course requirements established by the Tennessee Department of Education and those additional requirements prescribed by the Board of Directors of Heritage Covenant Schools.

COLLEGE PREP DIPLOMA
CLASSICAL STUDIES DIPLOMA
DIPLOMA
The standard academic Diploma will be awarded to students who:
1. satisfactorily complete the
specified twenty-one and a half units of study or satisfactorily complete an
individualized educational program, and
2. score at or in excess of the
40th percentile on the A.C.T. or S.A.T. college entrance exams.
The following 21.5 units of study shall be required for graduation:

Also, a half-credit unit of Bible is required for every year the student is enrolled at HCHS. These are absorbed within the "Electives," but no more than a half credit is allowed per year towards the diploma requirements.
Note: A unit equals two sequential semesters of study.
* One credit must be Algebra I.
** One semester of Health and one semester of
Physical Education.
COLLEGE PREP DIPLOMA
The College Prep Diploma will be awarded to students who:
1. satisfactorily complete those
courses listed above with those courses
accepted by the Tennessee Board of Regents. (see below)
2. the 6 units of Electives are replaced by the following:
Foreign Language 2.0 units
Both units must be of the same language
Fine Arts 1.0 unit
Electives 3.0 units
CLASSICAL STUDIES DIPLOMA
A Classical Studies Diploma will be awarded to students who
1. satisfactorily complete the College Prep Diploma
requirements,
2. in addition, complete one unit of Logic, two units of
Latin, and one unit of Rhetoric, and
3. during their Senior year present a research paper under the
guidance of the HCHS administration.
An Honors designation will be given those students who complete the core curriculum and either the College Preparatory Course or the Classical Studies Course and achieve a score at or in excess of the 80th percentile on the A.C.T., S.A.T., or other accepted college entrance exam.
TENNESSEE BOARD OF REGENTS
The Tennessee Board of Regents will recognize only the courses listed below.

Applied Communication (may substitute for English III or IV)
Mathematics
Algebra I (or Math for Technology II)
Algebra II
one of the following: Unified Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Math IV, Probability and Statistics
Science
two of the following: Biology I or II, Biology for Technology, Chemistry I or II, Physics, Principles of Technology
II
one of the following: additional one of the above, Principles of Technology I, Physiology,
Physical Science, Science 1-A (Ag Science), Geology, Nutrition Sciences, Ecology & Conservation of Nat. Resources
Foreign Language
two units of one of the following: Latin, French, Spanish, Japanese, Russian,
or German
Arts
one of the following: Theatre Arts, Visual Arts, Music Theory, Music History, Vocal Music,
Instrumental Music, Art History, General Music, Dance I, II, III, or IV
