ALL ABOUT HCS
At Heritage Covenant Schools,
we have a HISTORY
Founded in 1986, Heritage Covenant Schools is the first school in Tennessee specifically established to work primarily with families who wish an alternative education for their children. Its services and procedures are not an adjustment from something else, but are consciously designed to provide a concise and accurate record of your child’s educational progress within the home with a minimum of parental paperwork.
The
Reverend David O. Jones, is a fourth generation educator who has been involved
in Christian education since 1981. He founded HCS in 1986, just as the concept of
education in the home started to receive acceptance by parents and educators in Tennessee. HCS has
provided educational administrative services to over one thousand families in middle
Tennessee.
We are convinced that the only real education is one conducted under the authority and direction of the Bible, God’s Word. As a church-related school, Heritage Covenant has established itself as a leader in developing alternative methods in education.
The four quadrants of the Heritage Covenant Schools crest (pictured top left) are divided by the St. Andrew's cross, traditional to Scot-Irish and Southern peoples. On the left is the statue of the southern patriot in the square in Franklin. At the bottom is the Bible with the scales which declare that all things are measured by God's Word. On the right a scroll with the torch of learning. Together the three symbolize heritage, covenant and schools.
Across the crown
of the crest is the HCS motto:
SINE CHRISTO, TOTA DOCTRINA INANIS EST.
Translated from Latin, it means:
Without Christ, all knowledge is worthless.
"I would like to say how much I appreciate Heritage Covenant and their policies. It would be wonderful if all schools could adopt your motto." -- S.B. (mother)
